across the road

There I sat.
Maybe I can't remember where did the postcard come from.
And then there I sat, blinded by the blinkers.
"Fly! Fly!" said my mind. Nope, that seat was so cozy—I didn't move.
My brother walked away when I was laughing.
Face down, I caught a drop of tear, but that wasn't mine.
There I sat, wondered about the world.
My parents' eyes asked me to leave,
then I got my eyes on a tree.
I got up, I caught a drop of my sweat, warm.
I got up, but I got numb, cold.
There I was standing straight,
A million diamonds and words were hanging all along the branch.
"Fly! Fly!" said my mind louder. But I can't fly.
I saw my brother's thumb and my parents' stars.
By the pieces of my courage, I crossed the road.
